1st and 2nd Street

Location:
St. James

The small seaside town, and (the islands first settlement) called Holetown is where 1st and 2nd Street call home. They are located directly across from the Lime Grove Lifestyle Centre, another must-visit venue in Barbados - nowhere else on the island can provide high-end shopping the way they do.

A tour of these two famous streets easily reveals the after-dark appeal. Restaurants line both sides of the street, offering up a myriad of cuisine - fine dining included. You are sure to find something you like, as the restaurants include Caribbean, Indian, Italian, Asian & French cuisine! Making this a hotspot for those with even the most sophisticated palettes.

Finished eating but you’re not ready to turn in quite yet? That’s fine! Stay awhile, there is so much to see and do. Fancy mingling with locals, there is no better place in Holetown to do this than on 1st and 2nd Street. This is the premier entertainment spot on the West Coast, and the streets come alive with music, warm faces and the scents of tantalizing food. Pop into one of the local bars for happy hour, to enjoy their DJ’s or to listen to live local bands that send rhythms pulsating through the rafters of every establishment! If it's too cramped inside then follow the crowd and spill out onto the streets, they act as extensions of the lively facilities.  Conversely, after you wet those windpipes you can belt out a song at the karaoke bar -  another excellent option for a few laughs and an amazing time. Yes! This spot is a perfect spot for a few drinks or an exceptional meal;  a great place to make new friends, so sing to your heart's content or to simply join the party scene and dance the night away.

If you are lucky enough to be in Barbados around the New Year, there is no place on the island better to be than 1st and 2nd Street. Though they are normally filled with happy people all year round, this night is special. This night brings extremely large, exuberant crowds, ready to ring in the new year together. Wearing party hats and blowing noisemakers, this happy lot fills the streets to watch the fireworks and party until the sun comes up. It is not to be missed!

Though pretty unassuming during the day, at night the adjoined roads come alive with lights, food, and music. To be in Barbados and miss the opportunity to be a part of the magic that is 1st and 2nd Street is almost punishable! Your orders are pretty clear - make a visit here a priority, write it down right now on your places to visit while in Barbados!
