The change of venue last year made a huge difference to the quality of this event in every way. The Kensington Oval provided excellent accommodation for players and spectator alike, good food and drink that was easily and quickly accessible and a playing surface that was second to none.
The standard of play was exceptionally high with the likes of Projecx Waterboys (Scotland), Olorun Ponty Butchers (Wales) and Atlantis (USA) getting to the semis in the Men’s Elite Division, whilst Northeast Academy (USA) and Rugby Ecosse Feminin (Scotland) fought to dethrone Scion Sirens (USA) in the Women’s Elite Division.
It was perhaps fitting that the two Scottish teams prevailed in their respective divisions as the “home of rugby 7s” had brought their games to the “home of cricket 6s” for the first time! No wonder that the 2019 edition will be back at the Kensington Oval again, on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th December.
A packed schedule of events will be on the cards, including the 1st Annual RBW7s Gavin Clark Memorial Golf Tournament in association with the Barbados Cancer Society on December 11th at the Barbados Golf Club, and the RBW7s Rugby Beach Bash at Harbour Lights from 3 pm, on Sunday, December 15th. One lucky RBW7s patron will also win a prize of roundtrip flights for two on JetBlue, along with a JetBlue Vacation certificate for US$ 1000, but you have to be in the Oval to win it!Come and join us for a day of action for the whole family and witness the highest paying Women's Club Rugby 7s tournament in the world.World Class 7s in the Home of World Class 6s.Go to www.rugbybarbadosworld7s.com for more information.
