Brandons Beach

Brandon’s Beach is one which boasts eye-popping caramel-coloured sand, lots of greenery and beach vegetation. While not on any regular bus route, it is an easy-breezy fifteen-minute walk from the heart of bustling Bridgetown, the capital city of Barbados. On arrival be sure to refresh with cold and satisfying natural juices sold by the vendors at the brightly coloured market on the opposite side of this impressive beachfront. This market picks up around mid-morning and also sells a variety of tropical fruits and vegetables, the perfect beach day snacks. Crossing over to the beachside, Rascals Beach Bar and Restaurant – open daily for lunch and dinner - serves local cuisine, tropical drinks and ice-cream right on the sand which can be enjoyed in the presence of an uninterrupted ocean view. 

Rascals Bar is connected to the ample car park which enjoys all-day shade from the soaring trees. Visitors to this beach are often seen unpacking bodyboards and other floating devices as the waves here flow pleasantly and are not difficult to navigate even at high tide. There are a number of picnic tables and sturdy furniture fashioned from reclaimed shipping crates scattered across the beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas are also available to rent and are a necessity on this bright, sunny stretch.

Arguably one of Barbados’ most attractive beaches, it is frequented by persons from the neighbouring village who cross the highway to make an early morning sea bath part of their daily routine. Though very popular, the expansive beachfront offers bathers more than enough space to occupy on their own without feeling crowded. The popularity of Brandon’s has surged due to the introduction of a floating water park, which is great fun for young and old alike. 

At the day’s end, before rinsing the sand from between your toes, be sure to soak in the view of the sunset. This southwest facing beach gives a front-row view to the most stunning sunsets year-round, with orange rays tinting the sand. 

Brandon’s Beach, just on the outskirts of Bridgetown is the ideal haven for a fun-filled family day to leave you relaxed and recharged.
