Brownes Beach

If being at the heart of Barbados’ oceanfront action is your thing, then Brownes Beach is the place for you. This southwestern, half-mile stretch of creamy white sand, mellow waves and prolific beach life is only a five-minute walk from the city and has an unmatched relaxed, family-friendly vibe.

While it is typical for the beaches in Barbados to be beautiful, this one is extraordinarily so. The sand is soft and pristine with particular care given to this national treasure’s upkeep. 

Across the stretch of sand are several beach clubs lining the shore, some of which offer day passes which include sunbeds or loungers, an umbrella, food and music. The cuisine is often local casual and affordable, with The Boatyard’s burgers and tropical cocktails being the clear winner.

Brownes Beach is highly recommended as a hive of activities and water sports. The offerings for adrenaline junkies are diverse and include jetski riding, waterslides and trampolines. For a real thrill, fly above this beach’s clear, turquoise waters in a jet pack or rent diving, snorkelling or paddling equipment for a closeup view of the six shipwrecks sunken off this coast. The shallow waters which lap the shore are perfect for playing and splashing - particularly convenient for families with children - and the waves are agreeable for even the most novice of swimmers. Lifeguards are on duty to keep everyone safe as they enjoy all that Brownes beach has to offer.

There are also several amenities on hand including a shower and changing facilities located near the car park. Adjacent to the car park, is a comfortable picnic area, with several picnic tables found under, large shady trees. With so much to offer Browne’s beach remains a favourite and a holiday destination in its own right.
