Everything about the famed Sandy Lane Beach on the platinum west coast of Barbados screams luxury. This beach is known as the watery playground for the elite such as Simon Cowell and the island’s own Rhianna, who stay at the five star Sandy Lane Hotel Resort’s villas and suites. Access to this star-studded beach can be found the right of a well-maintained pathway next to the imperial One Sandy Lane. This avenue leads to the picturesque span of beach that looks as luxurious as the many luxury accommodations that occupy the shoreline. A walk is required until you come within view of Sandy Lane’s signature pink umbrellas, and while there is every possibility of spotting some famous celebrity, the appeal of this area might have more to do with its sheer beauty.
The beach here is immaculate, with clean golden sand that meets the dazzling crystal clear water. The area is calm and peaceful with a gentle lull of lapping waves. Consider walking with a picnic basket with your towels and snacks, as beach chairs and restaurants are not readily available on this beachfront. However, overhang trees planted on the seashore offer some shade from the sun, but the best reprieve from the heat of the day is the cool crystal clear waters.
While there is some undertow, the water is still great for swimming and the marine life from nearby coral reefs provide an array of subjects when snorkelling. Depending on the time of year a hawksbill turtle or two can also be sighted as they nest on the shores from July to October.
A Jetski ride will inject some fun into the day’s affairs before the sun sets on the horizon. Whether you want to swim or star spot, Sandy Lane beach is a place you can feel free to have a reserved beach day on these shores.
